Hexham

Hexham, a tiny locality on the meandering Hopkins River, is a classic example of historic buildings being given a new lease of life. The former bluestone church has been transformed into a beautiful residence with landscaped garden, as has another historic bluestone residence on the other side of the river.

The renovated 1876 bluestone Temperance Hall is now an artistic home, while the 1853 Woolshed Inn/Hexham Hotel awaits its rebirth.

There’s affordable land for sale for around $200k. There are no shops in Hexham anymore, but Mortlake is just 10 minutes away and Port Fairy a pleasant 50-minute drive. Hexham is home to around 130 residents.
