Port Fairy
Acclaimed for its heritage buildings, stunning beaches, river port and long-running folk festival, charming Port Fairy is Moyne’s largest town with a permanent population of around 3700.
A major tourist destination and desirable place to live, play and work in, it does however pay a price for its popularity.
Homes for sale along coveted East Beach can top $7 million and along the Moyne River up to $3.5 million.
The current median housing price is on a par with Melbourne’s ($965,000 as at February 2024). More affordable property can be found in pockets, especially on or near the Princes Highway.
Port Fairy truly is a wonderful town to live in, with a diverse, welcoming community, plentiful job, sporting and volunteering opportunities, excellent health and aged-care services, two primary schools, a kinder and childcare, bus services to secondary schools and tertiary education in Warrnambool and Hamilton, a vibrant shopping scene and many cafes and restaurants.
