Nirranda
Although this region on the doorstep of the iconic Great Ocean Road is largely farmland (predominantly dairy), opportunities can be found in like Nirranda and nearby Nullawarre.
Nirranda is another example of new residents buying old buildings and repurposing them, such as the 1896 public hall (now an arts retreat) and the former church now the home and business of an organic farmer.
The Butterfly Farm B&B – a three-acre retreat on what was once bare paddock - has been welcoming tourists for two decades and is still going strong.
Nirranda remains a closeknit community and is another of Moyne’s localities that boast excellent sports facilities for footy, netball and cricket. Nirranda would appeal to both tree-changers and sea-changers as it’s just 10 minutes from the rugged beauty of the Great Ocean Road and coastal hamlet of Peterborough. Warrnambool is a 40-minute drive. Around 50 residents live in Nirranda, 90 in Nirranda South and 12 in Nirranda East.
Nullawarre (population 230) has a primary school, general store, cafe, vet and hardware store.
